MUYINGA, March 11th (ABP) – Muslims should respect one another and cultivate love in order to develop together, said Abbas Said, provincial representative of the Muslim community in the expanded Buhumuza province, during the community construction work on the Aboukhaira Islamic Complex building, organized in Muyinga on Saturday, February 8, 2025, in the Swahili neighborhood, on 3rd Avenue, a check by ABP revealed.
In his speech, Said emphasized that Muslims should reflect on the fasting period they have begun, in order to live in harmony with their neighbors without any discrimination. He also mentioned that development work should remind them of the importance of working together to progress. He pointed out that contempt breeds underdevelopment. He added that this building would not be important for the Muslim community alone, but for the entire country.
This multi-service building will be a Quranic school, a computer school, a sewing school, a welding school, and an expansion for the Islamic Higher Institute of Muyinga (ISIM).
The representative called for the completion of the building as soon as possible so that other work can begin. On the social level, Said thanked Muslims for their good behavior during the elections of their religion’s representatives, as there were no quarrels. He also advised the elected representatives to fulfill their duties to ensure their accountability.
He added that these representatives must set an example at home before inspiring others. He also highlighted the importance of good governance, where citizens can work comfortably, especially during the period of fasting, adding that even prayers should be held regularly.
In turn, Cyprien Havyarimana, provincial vice-secretary of the CNDD-FDD party, indicated that it is necessary to work together and tirelessly to complete the building. The vice-secretary of the ruling party also emphasized the need for development. He advised people to avoid rumors from social media and, instead, trust information from administrative authorities.
He thanked the Muslim community for their commitment to the country’s vision. He expressed the hope that these members of the Muslim community would establish a provincial office in Buhumuza province to support the work of their provincial representation. All the other representatives present also emphasized the importance of brotherhood, hygiene, development, and security.
It is worth noting that the meeting was also attended by other representatives, such as the representative of the Bene Samuragwa in Muyinga province, the representative of the Collective of Mosques of Burundi, the communal secretary of the CNDD-FDD party in Muyinga, and other representatives of local Muslims.
