GITEGA, April 23 (ABP) – The Burundian Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye, accompanied by his spouse, Angeline Ndayishimiye, officially launched, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the electoral education campaign for the 2027 presidential election.
In his address, he stated that this campaign aims to instill in the voting-age population the knowledge that will guide them during the election of the President of the Republic of Burundi in 2027.
The population deserves to be informed about this event, given that it is the source of power, he indicated, before opposing anyone who might attempt to sabotage it, arguing that it holds crucial importance in the life of a country.
President Ndayishimiye also outlined the requirements necessary for the success of this event. He notably mentioned peace and security in the country and in the hearts of citizens, the necessary resources for conducting the election, respect for electoral regulations, and respect for the results of the ballot box.

He concluded his remarks by calling on all Burundians to turn out in large numbers for the occasion.
Earlier, the chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Prosper Ntahorwamiye, had provided insights into the progress already made and the prospects in preparing for the presidential election.
He explained that this event constitutes a cornerstone in the success of the Burundian government’s vision: an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060.
The ceremonies were attended by high-ranking authorities of the country, senior officials, as well as a large crowd from Gitega province, to whom thanks were extended by the previous speakers.
