BUBANZA, March 28th (ABP) – Learning a trade does not require long studies, according to a young printer and photocopier repairer from the Muzinda area, in the Rugazi commune (north-west Burundi), who spoke to ABP.
The 17-year-old entrepreneur, Gad Nishimwe, who met him in the provincial capital of Bubanza, repairing printers, told ABP that, having realised that he was unable to continue his studies as a 7th year student, he had turned to Plan B. “I approached my uncle, who repairs electronic equipment, so that he could teach me that trade. Now I earn between 20,000 BIF and 50,000 BIF a day, depending on how often I get customers, and I’ve already bought two pigs to raise, so I’m no longer dependent on my parents,” he says. In the future, he plans to buy a plot of land and build his own house, and then start a family.
“I am ready to share the knowledge I have learnt with other young people who have not been able to continue their studies,” he adds.
The young entrepreneur Gad Nishimwe calls on other young people who have not continued their studies to think about the trades, because, he says, the trade can lead them to sustainable self-development.
