BEIJING, February 20th (AMSP/CGTN) – – China’s winter tourism is reaching its peak, especially in the northern part of the country, where cold temperatures are expected to last for months. A wide range of activities are being offered at various attractions across the country, providing visitors with thrilling experiences.

The Lushuihe National Forest Park in Baishan, northeast China’s Jilin province, boasts a forest coverage rate of 95.4%. Within the park, the Biquan River is a low-temperature hot spring, with water temperatures consistently maintained between 6-8 degrees Celsius, allowing it to remain unfrozen year-round. This winter season, the forest park has introduced a nighttime rafting experience, providing a unique adventure that captivates visitors.

“The rafting here truly offers a distinct landscape and water flow speed. The highlights are the snowy scenery and the lighting of the newly launched nighttime rafting,” a visitor said.

“It feels particularly cold, but the scenery is beautiful. It’s a completely different experience. There are lights nearby and animal-shaped decorations, which are very unique,” another visitor disclosed.

In the Dapingtai Scenic Area of Xunke County, Heilongjiang province, the trees along the banks of the Kurbin River are draped in rime. The river rushes with turbulent waves, and a thick mist rises from its surface, creating a picturesque “rime gallery.” This rime ice spectacle attracts tourists and photography enthusiasts from across the country daily, eager to capture the beautiful moment.

In southern areas, visitors can also witness heavy snowfall under the bright sun. Recently, continuous snowfall has led to a surge in visitors at the Dagu Glacier Scenic Area in Heishui, Sichuan province.

Snow-capped peaks are shrouded in a vast sea of clouds. As far as the eye can see, the landscape is adorned with thick snow and majestic glaciers, presenting a breathtaking scene of silver-clad beauty.

“We visited Dagu Glacier yesterday, and the scenery was stunning. After taking the cable car up, we were surrounded by numerous snow-capped mountains and various recreational activities, allowing us ‘southerners’ to experience the joy of playing in the snow,” another visitor told CGTN.

At the amusement park at the foot of the glacier, visitors ride down on snow tubes, experiencing the excitement of moving at thrilling speed. In addition, guests can stay in Tibetan-style lodges, enjoy Tibetan hot pot, and participate in local bonfire parties, immersing themselves in these rich cultural traditions.

Meanwhile, in Beijing, several parks have officially opened their snow venues. By creating ice and snow entertainment facilities, performances, and winter markets, they offer citizens and tourists a new winter experience. At Taoranting Park, an area of over 30,000 square meters of snow is used to accommodate more than 20 amusement projects.

This venue not only boasts a variety of ice and snow entertainment options but also includes a penguin parade, where troupes of these adorable aquatic birds waddle around the snow area, capturing the attention of visitors.

Ice rinks in parks such as the Summer Palace and Beihai are also being prepared.
