MUYINGA, March 9 (ABP) – Citizens of the Buhumuza province are urged to maintain cleanliness to preserve their health and contribute to the country’s development. This call was made on March 5, 2026, in Muyinga by the Second deputy speaker of the National Assembly, Boussessia Nkezimana, during a parliamentary tour of the province, a check by ABP has revealed.
Deputies and senators elected in Buhumuza province have conducted a three-day tour since March 4, 2026, in various areas of Muyinga commune. The visit aimed to engage with the population and gather their concerns. Thursday’s meeting was held in the Gasorwe area.
In her welcome remarks, the governor of Buhumuza province, Denise Ndaruhekere, stated that peace and security prevail in the province. However, she called on the population to remain vigilant and establish family security committees to monitor suspicious movements.
The governor also urged local authorities and residents to take ownership of the hygiene and sanitation program to make Buhumuza an exemplary province. She encouraged the population to increase coffee and avocado production while avoiding laziness, alcoholism, and cohabitation outside of marriage.

Speaking, Nkezimana invited parents to ensure the education of their children and prevent school dropouts. She also encouraged women to become more involved in productive activities to contribute to household development.
During the discussions, residents raised several concerns, including the lack of drinking water and electricity, land disputes, landslides, fertilizer shortages, and the lack of medicines in health centers. She assured that issues related to various ministries would be forwarded to the competent authorities after the parliamentary recess so that solutions could be considered.
For his part, the administrator of Muyinga commune, Amédée Misago, thanked the population for their engagement in development activities, particularly coffee and avocado cultivation, livestock farming, and promoting cleanliness.
The Gasorwe area was the sixth visited since the start of the tour. The tour is set to continue in other localities. The parliamentarians plan to visit nine of the sixteen zones in Muyinga commune.
