BEIJING, March 5th (AMSP/CGTN) – – The 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country’s top political advisory body, outlined its main tasks for 2025 on Tuesday at the opening meeting of its annual session in Beijing.

Wang Huning, chairman of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, presented the tasks in a work report of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee.

Noting that the year 2025 marks the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and a pivotal year for further deepening reform comprehensively, Wang urged the CPPCC to redouble its efforts to achieve the current plan’s goals and tasks with high quality, and to lay a solid foundation for a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).

Wang stressed the importance of upholding the overall leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) over the CPPCC’s work.

He called on CPPCC members to strengthen theoretical and political guidance and to build broad consensus.

“The more complex the situation and the heavier the tasks, the more necessary it is for us to unite as one. We must continuously consolidate the great unity of people of all ethnic groups across the country, develop a stronger sense of the Chinese nation as one community, and strengthen the great unity of all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation at home and abroad,” Wang said.

He urged CPPCC members to offer ideas for bolstering Chinese modernization.

“Serving Chinese modernization must be our main work. We must focus on the concerns of both the CPC Central Committee and the general public, and address major strategic issues related to the national economic and social development. We must organize and conduct in-depth investigations and inspections to provide workable suggestions to the CPC Central Committee for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan. We must effectively implement the 2025 work plans of the CPPCC National Committee approved by the CPC Central Committee, and enhance in-depth consultations and deliberation on state affairs, striving to offer forward-looking, targeted, and feasible suggestions. Through high-quality consultation and suggestions, we could better support scientific decision-making and effective policy implementation. We must also leverage the advantages of consultative supervision to promote the implementation of the major decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee,” Wang said.

He also highlighted the need to improve the CPPCC’s mechanisms for consultative democracy.

This year’s CPPCC National Committee session will last from March 4 to 10.
