October 30th (AMSP/CGTN) – – China has strongly rejected the European Commission’s decision to impose 5-year-long extra tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday said Beijing has filed a lawsuit under the World Trade Organization dispute settlement system. It reiterated China’s will to take all necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of Chinese companies. The Ministry of Commerce noted the E-U will continue talks with China to reach a resolution.
The tariffs on Chinese E-Vs, which are as high as 45-point-3 percent, have been approved and published in the EU’s Official Journal on Tuesday, meaning they will take effect today. BYD (Build Your Dreams) is subject to 17% additional duty on its Chinese-made vehicles sold in the EU, while the additional duties for Geely are 18.8% and SAIC 35.3%.
