BUBANZA, September 18th (ABP) – The Burundian Ombudsman, Aimée Laurentine Kanyana, accompanied by elected deputies from the Bubanza constituency, joined the inhabitants of the Mpanda commune (North-West) on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in community development work, as witnessed on site.

The work consisted in rehabilitating 5 classrooms that had been destroyed by torrential rains mixed with violent winds, and building a meeting room, on the initiative of the inhabitants of that Nyamabere village.

One of the MPs elected in the Bubanza constituency, Olivier Suguru, provided sheet metal for the rehabilitation of those classrooms and promised cement for the construction of the meeting room, according to local sources.

On that occasion, the Burundian Ombudsman, Aimée Laurentine Kanyana, called on local residents to make the national vision their own, in their daily lives, by building solid, sustainable public infrastructures and by taking part in household and national development projects.

She also asked them to safeguard peace and security, and to eradicate concubinage, which she believes is not only the cause of demographic pressure, but also a source of insecurity.

The Burundian ombudsman urged local administrators to do their utmost to ensure that all school-age children attend school at the start of the new school year.

As for the pupils, she called on them to get straight down to revising their lessons, right from the start, because, she said, they are the active population that Burundi expects for its development and the achievement of vision 2040-2060.  The other appeal concerned the massive response to the current census and preparations for next year’s peaceful elections.

The Burundian Ombudsman also promised to contribute to the construction of a meeting room on Nyamabere village.
