BUBANZA, March 7th (ABP) – The President of the Burundian Senate, Emmanuel Sinzohagera, is inviting Burundians to devote themselves to increasing agricultural production and to consider agri-food processing. That was on Monday 3 March 2025, during the harvest of his rice field on the Gifurwe village in the commune of Mpanda (north-west Burundi), according to local sources.

In an interview with journalists, the president of the upper house of parliament said that increased agricultural production was very beneficial for the country and for farmers.

According to him, with a good harvest, the success of the 2040-2060 vision will be easy, but also every mouth will have something to eat and every pocket will have money. He therefore called on Burundians to take advantage of the assets at their disposal, such as the fertility of the soil, to increase agricultural production, which, he continued, would bring in foreign currency for the country. The President of the Burundian Senate welcomed the State’s efforts in granting subsidised inputs, but called on the ministry responsible for agriculture to consider agro-food processing with a view to enhancing the value of agriculture and farmers.

Sinzohagera also called on Burundians not to be distracted by the electoral process, but to always give priority to increasing production.
