November 18th (AMSP/CGTN) – – Brazil hosts this year’s G20 meeting. China and Brazil are two important members of the cohort presenting the global south. Xu Xinchen caught up with Brazilian Senator Tereza Cristina on how the two nations can further expand cooperation.
Given that there is a growing interest from Chinese firms to invest in Brazil, Senator Tereza assured that China is already a major investor in the power in Brazil, especially in energy generation and distribution. However, she believes that the sector that is still to be further developed is logistics and infrastructure. ” So although there are already Chinese investments in ports, for instance, I think that there is a lot that could be done to further improve Chinese investments in logistics, because Brazil really needs that as agricultural exporter, ” she told CGTN’s Xu Xinchen.
Regarding the Brazil-China ties and their contributions at the international level in general and at the global south level in particular, Tereza Cristina underscored that Brazil and China are two gigantic countries in their respective regions, China in Asia and Brazil in South America. ” So these two countries should definitely work together to promote peace and stability, especially looking into China’s pragmatism and China’s ability to have a pragmatic and peaceful approach to things. So the two countries should definitely further cooperate for this peace to happen, ” she said.
