MUKAZA, March 29 (ABP) – The ministry of public health and the fight against AIDS signed, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Bujumbura, a memorandum of understanding with the NGO CURE International, as part of the development of advanced hospital infrastructure.
Speaking to the press, Minister Baradahana stated that this infrastructure consists of an orthopedic surgery center dedicated to specialized care for children aged 0 to 18. These children are affected by congenital malformations or physical disabilities, including clubfoot, cleft lip, bowed legs, severe burns, and hydrocephalus. She noted that this project is part of Burundi’s vision for 2040-2060 and also fits into a broader effort to improve the healthcare system in the country. She praised the organization Cure International for its strong commitment to supporting the care of children with disabilities from birth.
Note that this center will be built in Bujumbura under the auspices of this NGO. It will be the 9th center of its kind in Africa, thereby strengthening access to quality orthopedic care for children.
