BUJUMBURA, February 27th (ABP) – The secretary of the CNDD-FDD party in the extended commune of Mukaza, William Ndayimirije, made a visit to the Buyenzi area on Sunday 23 February 2025, with a view to sensitising the administration and the population to take part in the country’s development activities.

In his welcoming speech, Djalia Marora, the secretary of the party in power in the Buyenzi zone, said that development activities had been carried out in that zone, such as the planting of avocado seedlings and those relating to hygiene and sanitation in order to combat diseases caused by dirty hands.

According to Ndayimirije, the communal secretary of the ruling party, the Mukaza commune is considered to be the heart of the city of Bujumbura. It comprises 5 zones, including Muyira, Buyenzi, Nyakabiga Bwiza and Rohero. He pointed out that many development activities had been carried out in that commune.

Those include the planting of various seedlings, bamboo along the banks of the Ntahangwa river to protect the environment, coffee trees in the Muyira zone on Mirama hill, and rabbit breeding. During those activities, he continued, the citizens, in collaboration with the administrative authorities, continue to carry out hygiene and sanitation activities in households and workplaces.

With regard to the development of the Sangwe cooperatives, Ndayimirije called on the zonal secretaries and their committees to check that the cooperatives are functioning properly, to monitor their financial management and to submit monthly reports.

Ndayimirije called on everyone to join the cooperatives, in order to contribute to the national vision.

He took the opportunity to raise awareness among the Bagumyabanga people, and among managers in particular, of the need to safeguard peace and security.

He also condemned the behaviour of those who use social networks to destabilise the population. To that end, Ndayimirije asked everyone to collaborate with the joint security committees in order to ensure peace and security.
