MURAMVYA, December 12th (ABP) – On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the Minister of the Interior, Community Development and Public Security, Martin Niteretse, continued his visits to the enlarged communes in the interior of the country, where he met with various administrative officials from the Muramvya and Kiganda communes of the new enlarged province of Gitega, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
In his moralising session, Minister Niteretse invited leaders at all levels to properly discharge their duties and take the necessary measures to respond to the concerns of the population. In particular, they must respect the measures taken by the government regarding the prices of Brarudi products, which are causing consumers to grumble. Minister Niteretse said that as grumblings are being heard in the current province of Muramvya, where retailers of BRARUDI products are in possession of operating licenses deemed fraudulent. In such cases, he pointed out, those operating licenses must be suspended, while the bistros belonging to the suspected fraudsters of Brarudi beverages must be closed for investigation. At the same time, the Minister in charge of the Interior heard of the provincial administration’s grumbling over the illegal obtaining of Brarudi product licenses. He insisted on the economic independence of all households, with a view to achieving the vision of Burundi as an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060.
Leaders were called upon to take ownership of the country’s theme, which stipulates that development emanates from the working population and returns to them via development projects.
Niteretse called on leaders at all levels to avoid blocking household development.
As for national laws and regulations, he recommended three things: to listen, to execute and to respect, in order to demonstrate discipline and success in all areas. The building blocks of the State, according to the Minister of the Interior, are respect for the people, respect for power and security of the national territory.
Niteretse made the same visit on the afternoon of Wednesday December 11, 2024, in the extended commune of Kiganda.
