BUJUMBURA, March 7th (ABP) – The Company “Abiyunze Ku kivi”, which is located in the Buyenzi area close to the Ntahangwa bridge, manufactures various types of construction equipment, according to the company’s chief executive, Ephreum Ndikumana, in an interview with ABP.
According to Ndikumana, the company began operations in 2023, when two people joined forces to set up a company that manufactures building materials to help people living in Bujumbura town hall to obtain supplies for building their homes.
The company manufactures cement blocks, paving stones, costras and bollards. It also sells slabs and bouillon. Ephreum Ndikumana explained that the company has already provided work for seven people. He took the opportunity to thank the company’s founders for giving them jobs to feed their families.
However, he deplored the fact that the increase in the price of cement and sand used in the manufacture of the products, following the shortage of fuel, had led to an increase in the price of their products, and at the same time to a reduction in the number of customers. Ndikumana has also taken up the challenge of the thieves who operate in the vicinity of the company. Once pursued during their crimes, they flee and damage the products along the way. In this connection, he called for increased security in the vicinity of the company, so that he could work in peace.
Continuing, he mentioned the challenges of the rainy season, when some of their products are destroyed by heavy rains. To remedy this, Ndikumana explained that the company is obliged to manufacture only a small number of products that can fit in the converted sheds.
