MAKAMBA, September 27th (ABP) –Burundi Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye chaired a moralization session, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in Makamba, for the executives and leaders of the new province of Burunga. He asked the latter to change their mentality, to be part of the objective of contributing to achieving the vision of Burundi as an emerging country by 2040 and developed country in 2060; a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

President Ndayishimiye indicated that a leader does not represent their ethnic group but rather Burundians. He pointed out that the foundation of Burundi’s development is currently based on the new social dynamic where divisions of all kinds have been forgotten. According to the President of the Republic, the political and security instability that had shaken the country deprived it of taking off economically. He advised Burundians to initiate income-generating projects, in order to access loans to increase production.

He asked leaders to support economic growth: “Be leaders who support the projects of young people” the President of the Republic of Burundi insisted.

Executives must know that the vision of Burundi emerging by 2040 and developed in 2060 belongs to Burundi and not to the President of the Republic. Reason why Burundians must agree to change their behavior to achieve the objective of the vision set, Head of State kept on insisting.

Mr. Ndayishimiye reminded leaders that with the new administrative division, the budget will be allocated to each province, as part of carrying out a real decentralization of state services.

He finally reminded leaders to know that Burundi has assets to develop. Thus, each leader was challenged by the Head of State to draw up a development plan, in line with the vision of a developed Burundi by 2060.
