KAYANZA, February 27th (ABP) – At a time when there is a shortage of Imbura and Totahaza fertilisers in various communes of Kayanza province (north), local agronomists and farmers are calling on the authorities to do everything possible to avoid delays in sowing for the B 2025 cropping season.
In the commune of Rango, 42% of Imbura fertiliser has been delivered, while not a single kilogram of Totahaza has been delivered.
According to Mr. Bède Ndayizeye, Rango’s municipal agronomist, the quantity of Bagara organo-mineral fertilisers (FOMI) ordered amounts to 11 tonnes, while the quantity of Dolomie fertilisers is in excess of 72 tonnes. He points out that all these quantities are already stored in warehouses scattered around different areas of the municipality. However, he deplores the fact that the problem lies in the delivery of “Imbura” and “Totahaza” fertilisers. He points out that farmers had placed an order for more than 72 tonnes of Fomi Totahaza. As for Fomi Imbura, 88 tonnes of the 207 tonnes ordered are available.
A similar situation is being observed in other communes in Kayanza province, where farmers and local agronomists are sounding the alarm, urging all the relevant authorities to get involved before it’s too late, because they are worried about the risk of not achieving the expected production.
