KAYANZA, February 19th (ABP) – The members of the cooperative “Sangwe” of Rukanu, in Gahombo commune, Kayanza province, proceeded, last Saturday, to the inauguration of a building that will house different services of the cooperative.
The communal administration, as well as the representation of the CNDD-FDD party in the new extended commune of Muhanga, encouraged the leaders of the cooperative to move forward. They deplored that some cooperatives failed in their mission, which negatively impacted the management of the loan granted to them by the State.
The executive secretary of the CNDD-FDD party in the extended commune of Muhanga, Mr. Liévin Niyonyishu, said he was satisfied with the achievements of the cooperative which, according to him, is the first to have an office and occupies a prominent position.
The leader of the cooperative, Pacifique Ndagijimana, testified that, apart from the construction, they have bought properties, cattle and goats as well as mills for maize and rice, and that its assets now amount to more than 65,000,000 BIF.
He reassured that their cooperative is ready at any time to repay the loan granted to it by the Burundian government. The ceremonies ended with the exchange of New Year’s greetings between the members of the cooperative.
Note that this cooperative has more than 280 members.
