NGOZI, January 24th (ABP) – The CNDD-FDD party launched, on Thursday, January 23 in Ngozi, an ecumenical prayer crusade that will last three days.
The presidential couple first took part in the mass launching the prayer crusade, a mass that was celebrated at the Ngozi Cathedral.
Other high authorities of the country took part in the Eucharistic celebration including the Vice-President of the Republic, the Head of Government, parliamentarians and members of the government. The mass was chaired by the Bishop of the Diocese of Ngozi, Georges Bizimana. The ceremonies continued at the Kugasaka stadium at the headquarters of the new expanded province of Butanyerera. They were honored with the presence of the Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye. In addition to the Bagumyabanga from the eight communes of the Butanyerera province, several personalities from the party had attended the prayer.
At the Kugasaka stadium, the President of the Republic of Burundi gave advice to the Bagumyabanga. He announced that the Eagle Party will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year. He recalled that such a gathering is an opportunity to give thanks and thank the Almighty who blessed Burundi and restored peace and security in the country. Several signs show that God the Almighty is with the people of Burundi, he said. He asked Burundians to keep the memory of the past and not to forget what they have endured. He gave many testimonies to show how much the Almighty always watches over Burundi and the leaders of Burundi. For Friday and Saturday, there are planned teachings that the Head of State will give to young people and leaders.
Denise Bucumi Nkurunziza, preacher of the day, focused on the theme found in the book of Numbers, chapter 11, verse 26, which wants the country of the Lord to be filled with messengers and prophets of God.
Denise Bucumi Nkurunziza returned to the history of the People of Israel during the exodus that led the Israeli people from Egypt to the Promised Land, Canaan. The Israelites expressed themselves through lamentations of regrets that did not please their God the Creator of the Universe, the Almighty. She therefore urged Burundians to break with lamentations that only awaken divine anger and curses. Burundians must therefore learn to attract the fervors of God by respecting His commandments and becoming the messengers of Christ.
For his part, the deputy secretary general of the CNDD-FDD, Cyriaque Nshimirimana, urged the activists and leaders of the party to embody responsible leadership, to be shepherds and good models for the country. He has taken issue with the Bagumyabanga who receive positions of responsibility, but, afterwards, betray the country. According to that political official, they must receive corrections commensurate with their offenses.
