November 11th (AMSP/CGTN) – – China’s Foreign Minister and member of the Political Bureau Wang Yi… and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son… both chaired the sixteenth China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation in Beijing on Tuesday.
They shared views on deepening the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future… with a focus on promoting cooperation in areas ranging from the digital economy to green development.
During the meeting, participants from China and Vietnam both attended the commemorative event for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the demarcation of the China-Vietnam land border.
The two countries have opened fifteen pairs of land ports, built ten cross-border bridges and fifteen cross-border highways. In 2023, the China-Vietnam border trade volume reached 140 billion yuan or 20 billion U-S Dollars , and the two countries are each other’s largest border trade partners.
“The 1,450-kilometer-long China-Vietnam land border is not only a bond of friendship between the two countries but also a bridge for bilateral cooperation. It’s hoped that in the future, China and Vietnam will continue to build a clear, stable and prosperous border for generations to come. China encourages the two sides to continuously conduct bilateral dialogs and consultations to find solutions acceptable to both sides regarding maritime issues, and jointly safeguard peace and stability in the region,” said China’s foreign minister Wang Yi.
